About the Band
Fronted by the charismatic Robert Maseko, a British-based, Congo-born percussionist and vocalist, Rumba NaRumba is a dynamic 7-piece band rooted in the traditions of Congolese rumba — now recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Their sound fuses soukous, rumba, reggae, flamenco, and global grooves, with multilingual vocals in Lingala, Swahili, French, and English.
Recent Highlight
In August 2025, the band lit up The Cluny, Newcastle, delivering “soul-stirring, high-energy, dance-driven rumbatic grooves” to a packed audience.
