Profile
Stood On The Wire is a male and female duo with Frankie and Andy playing covers of well known 50's & 60's Rock and Roll music. Andy plays lead guitar and sings the faster rockier numbers such as by Little Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis. Frankie is the main singer with a crisp clean metro soprano voice, though it is no more classically sounding than the originals. Frankie also plays piano, and on some numbers bass guitar. On top of this there is a backing track, but it is not your average backing track! Andy creates the tracks himself. First a drum machine is carefully programmed beat by beat to sound as near to a real drummer as possible. Then Andy will play the rhythm and bass, as required, himself recording it all to a very high standard. The beauty of this is; no arguments from other band members, when rhythm or bass or both are not needed on the track they are just left off, no one has to sit out. All this results in a full band sound for less money and the results speak for themselves. How did this all start, well!
After answering an advert for female singer in 2022, Frankie joined forces with Andy to form a Duo playing a wide range of music, including 50's to 80's pop music, country, and rock and roll, called Incognito. They set about building a repetoire for a local residency doing specialist events with dining 4 or 5 times a year. Unfortunately somehow people liked to confuse us with a same named international acid jazz band. After playing some big local events and various pubs the decision to rename and concentrate on 50's and 60's Rock and Roll was taken in the summer of 2024. We have held the residency and although only relatively recent, this is looking like an excellent decision, having re-built our repetoire and done a few performances under the new name
Andy started performing in pubs and clubs at the age of 14, with a chance meeting with an older experienced solo performer. A trio was formed, with Andrew on lead guitar, which performed all over the North of England at all sorts of venues and events, for the next 4 or 5 years. Following this he teamed up with a song writing guitarist and vocalist to again play pubs and clubs, theaters and some festivals. Both these acts used the backing of a drum machine, and were very popular. After a few years things drifted apart and Andrew had to concentrate on a family and main career.
Frankie comes from a different background, being trained as a classical singer, and a qualified music teacher. Because of this she was addamant she would struggle to sing rock & roll, however be in no doubt, given the right songs she can certainly rock & roll.
